Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1795-1875), ‘Cheval Turc No.2, Antérieur Gauche Levé, Terasse Ovale’ (Turkish Horse No.2, left foreleg raised, oval base), mid-late 19th century patinated ‘animalier’ bronze of a horse on a naturalistic mounded base over an oval concave plinth, signed ‘BARYE’, base 25cm long overall, 24.3cm long at base of plinth, horse 30cm high, 31cm longest. FOOTNOTE: This highly desirable model is considered a masterpiece of French ‘animalier’ bronze sculpture and represents the height of Romanticism, with inspirations drawn from the powerful art of Delacroix and Gericault. It also echoes both Antique and Renaissance equestrian artworks. Modelled by perhaps the most renowned animalier sculptor, it shows his mastery of anatomy and the medium. A number of different models were produced, with right or left foreleg raised, and on rectangular or oval bases. The author of the 1844 Besse & Cie catalogue wrote “…the only feeling that one can experience upon seeing it is a deep admiration both for one of nature’s most noble creatures and the talent of its delineator.”
CONDITION: No losses, some wear to finish at extremities, a very few light scratches in places. Some very gentle light green tones and small spots to the base of the plinth. A green baize covered plaster panel (shown in last photograph) has been removed from the base to allow the inside of the base to be inspected and photographed. Philippe Matteau (MATTO) (19thC - 20thC), a French Art Deco cold-painted and patinated cast bronze sculpture of a mask dancer, the smiling lady looking back, with a mask in each hand, mounted on a stepped rectangular beige-cream and black variegated marble plinth, signed on the base 'MATTO', plinth 28.5cm long, sculpture 50.5cm high.
Condition: Patches of wear to finish on body, face and masks as photographed, plinth with chips of various sizes to corners and edges, primarily on the lowest, largest block. Green waxy deposit on left hand shoulder applied in the past to cover a scuff or loss of finish revealing the light golden underlying metal, as photographed. Screws need tightening as sculpture is very slightly loose on base.

A 1920s-30s French Art Deco patinated spelter sculpture of a dog, resembling bronze, on a yellowy-white streaked and creamy-yellow marble assembled base, unsigned, 33cm high, base 27.7cm long, 13.7cm wide.
Condition: Nibbling and minor chips to corners and edges of base. Rear right hand corner more chipped. No splits or cracks to the base of spelter sculpture. Some dark spotting and pitting to the upper surfaces of the sculpture. An attractively styled piece.

A 1920s-30s French Art Deco carved wood sculpture of a prowling lioness embarking on a hunt, by an unknown sculptor, mounted on a French walnut stepped base with 'LIONNE EN CHASSE' hand-carved into the top of the base, base 66cm long, 16.5cm deep, total height 29cm high.
Condition: Seemingly intact with no losses, splits, cracks, or major dents. The shiny surface of the lioness has been worn away and become matte and lighter in colour in places, and has numerous surface scuffs and scratches, some patches of darker stains, and some darker deposits. The back is shiny, probably from having been stroked over the decades. The base is shinier, noting some surface scratches and shallow denting to corners.

A rare, large and good postwar Rolls-Royce 'Spirit of Ecstasy' showroom display mascot, after Charles Sykes, probably dating from the 1950s or shortly after, with good original nickel (?) plating and patina, the mounded base moulded 'Charles Sykes', mounted on a black marble socle base, 56.3cm high including base, 34cm wingspan.
Condition: No splits, dents, bends or breaks, but the original plating is spotted, greyed and worn in patches all over the body of the piece, although this not at all unappealing. The underlying material of the body is showing through on the front knee, and in a line going up her thigh and down her shin, and on the ankle. No damage to the marble base. There are also small dark patches of wear to her lefthand wrist and hand, and a line of similar wear to her right wrist.

Condition: Excellent condition, with no apparent cracks, cracks or chips. Noting tiny loss to finish revealing grey matte body material on 'fin' as photographed. Additionally, a couple of the 'fins' appear to lack their ends, the finish is the same as the rest of the sculpture implying that if this is damage, it was damage done before the piece was finished by the artist.

Attributed to Patrick Nasmyth (Scottish 1787-1831), an oil on canvas of a waterfall in a wooded landscape, with mountains in the background and hunter and dog in the foreground, framed and glazed in a 19thC thick ornate gilt frame with painted inscription to bottom centre reading 'BORN 1871 P.NASMYTH DIED 1831', the back with (probably) prewar Albert Amor dealer's paper label to the bottom stretcher, canvas 48.5cm high, 40.5cm wide, frame 70.2cm high, 62.2cm wide.
FOOTNOTE: Patrick Nasmyth was the eldest son of Alexander Nasmyth (1758–1840) who was best known as ‘the father of landscape painting in Scotland’. He modelled his style on Dutch seventeenth-century artists, especially Meindert Hobbema, and was nicknamed the ‘Scottish Hobbema’. Albert Amor Ltd is a well-known antique dealership in St James', London, founded in c1900. Although the company became best known for its expertise in, and stock of, fine porcelain, the company also acquired and sold many notable other works over the decades including Lily, Duchess of Marlborough's pearl necklace (bought from Christie's in 1911 for over £16,000), and the dining suite from Lord Nelson's cabin on HMS Victory. In 1921, Albert Amor was appointed Antiquary to Her Majesty Queen Mary. The company continues today, specialising in English porcelain.

A charming mid-19thC oil on board of a terrier dog puppy, on a dark green background, signed 'charding' (?) top right, possibly for Marie Chardiny, the board with champfered back, contained in an ornate 19thC gilt frame, board 16.5cm high, 12.2cm wide, frame 33cm high, 29cm wide.
Condition: Painted board with slight crocodiling to the surface, and some small dings, losses and scratches to the surface. Attributed to Arthur Rankley (British 1819-72), a good and charming mid-Victorian oil on canvas portrait of a thoughtful, pretty young lady in a bonnet with a blue ribbon, lit from the left, gazing into the middle distance holding a book and handkerchief, with her elbow resting on a locked chest, signed and dated 1862 with a monogram '18 AR 62', framed in a gilt frame. Canvas 61.3cm high, 51cm wide, frame 84.6cm high, 74.5cm wide.
Condition: Unexamined out of the frame, but no apparent holes or tears. Some damage to back of canvas caused by the bent nails loosely holding the canvas in the frame. Some 'crocodiling' of the paint on her cloak as photographed, with small patches of the same to her right and particularly to the left of the flowers. Some slight wear to surface at edges caused by the painting moving in the frame over the years. Could do with a professional clean.

A rare signed and inscribed photographic portrait of Eva Péron (1919-52), the First Lady of Argentina, the colour photograph signed by her and mounted on card which has been inscribed and signed by her in Spanish with a thank you note dated 6th August 1950, framed and glazed.

A signed colour photograph of Colonel Muammar Al-Gaddafi (1942-2011), the ex-Libyan leader from 1969-2011, shown as a smiling younger man seated in his military uniform and cap, signed in red ink centre left, mounted, framed and glazed in a gilt finished frame with Arabic-style script, frame 61cm high, 55cm wide, photograph aperture 20.2cm high, 15.3cm wide.
Condition: Not examined out of frame. Photo appears to have no tears or losses but has patches of light scratches to the surface and very shallow impressed lines (probably from being stored in a pile) that have not removed the surface. A series of diagonal creases running diagonally from his mouth down to the edge of the photograph.

Idi Amin Dada Oumee (1925-2003), military officer and former President of Uganda from 1971-79, a rare signed photograph of Amin seated in a three quarter length pose wearing his army uniform and cap, mounted on what appears to be a menu card cover, with a caption printed onto a card affixed beneath the image, signed in between the two in blue biro 'Idi A. Dada', photograph 25cm high, 20cm wide, mounted, framed and glazed in a large, heavy walnut veneered frame, frame 87cm high, 77cm wide.
Condition: Photo appears to be a somewhat faded in terms of colouring. Some patches of brown spotting. Deckle edged card backing has dents to corners and edges, and some brown staining. All as photographed.
