A French Gold-Mounted and 'Gem'-Set Hardstone Bonbonnière, Maker's Mark Indistinct, Retailed by Cartier, Paris, 20th Century the green hardstone body circular and with pull-off cover, the gold mounts with husks and sapphire cabochons on a matted ground 50mm diameter Marked on bezel twice with eagle head standard mark. Further marked with indistinct maker's mark and engraved 'Cartier Paris Depose. The mounts on the detachable cover are apparently unmarked and there is no obvious engraved model number. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some flaws to the stone, which is perhaps jadeite and one area which appears to be a crack, though does not seem to come to the surface so is presumably a flaw in the stone. There is some discolouration to the gold around one of the stones, as can be seen in the illustration.

There are some overall very minor surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. The mechanism function properly. There are some mostly minor chips to the enamel in places. There is some chipping to the wide base of the pointed stylus, though this is perhaps constructional.
